IFO was founded in 2004 by a number of consultants and auditors whose CVs bear testimony to their wealth of experience and extensive knowledge. They felt that the market was in need of a new type of accounting organization: one which focuses on ‘special enquiries’.

The number of large accounting organizations had dropped to four and the number of times that these four organizations were precluded through conflict of interests was becoming somewhat of an issue. They also became more and more reluctant to provide risky services, such as fraud enquiries targeting individuals.
