Because of its position of independence, IFO is often invited to act as court expert in legal proceedings, as binding advisor in disputes and - in support of legal advisors, solicitors and receivers - as an expert in the field of accountancy. Litigation & Dispute Services cover the following services we offer to assist judges, legal advisors, solicitors and receivers:

• Prudential analysis and account controls in legal proceedings (such as “Bibob”);
• Prudential analysis and enquiries into loss claims, both on behalf of the defence and of the plaintiff;
• Quick Scan in (impending) bankruptcies, where a risk assessment is made in as little as one day so that the receiver can report back to the Examining Magistrate and, if need be, file an application for further investigations;
• Enquiries into the actions and negligence of Executive or Supervisory Boards in liability proceedings;
• Advisory activities - for instance as sparring partner or confidant - for advisors;
• Assessing the work of accountants;
• Expertise assignments, as a result of a judgement or at the request of any one party.

Our findings can be published in a report but sometimes we just act as a sounding board and simply provide oral advice.
